Although neither English nor French is my major in university, but language has always been a passion for me. For personal interest, I took the examination and qualified as an advanced interpreter (organized by the Shanghai Interpreter Associationj in 2000. My first professional work as an interpreter was a part time job for a garment manufacturer in Shanghai in relation to their import/export and dealing directly with clients from Australia and Canada. Ever since, I have had various occassions where I worked as part time translator/interpreter between English and Mandarin. I went to Paris in 2000, for a Master degree, and that's where I learnt French, with 2 years' education and 1 year full time working experience in the environment, I quickly mastered the language from scratch: in 2002, I did a conference (consecutive) interpreting for Zheng Jiang municiple visiting group (including the Mayor and other high ranked governors) between French/Mandarin. I left France in 2004 and came to London for my PhD degree (part time PhD) in Civil Engineering Department at Imperial College London, and worked full time for a Internation Benchmarking consultant company "Railway and Transport Strategy Centre", I have translated various official documents, executive summaries, etc from English to Mandarin and vice versa. 2004-current PhD student at Imperial College London, London, UK 2000-2003 Diplôme d'Ingénieur, title gained at Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, Paris, France 1996-2000 Bachlor of Science, title gained at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China (Click here to see this translator's profile)
