I have been translating since almost a decade now working both in the UK and Turkey. Currently based in the UK I have translated various types of texts; official documents, websites, brochures, articles and many more. I am a qualified translator with a Diploma in Translation (DipTrans). I had started learning English when I was 9 and naturally picked the language as it was my 2nd foreign language by then (I had been living in Germany in the past 5 years). Done my masters at an English education university on International Relations. Other qualifications I hold are DipTrans (Diploma in Translation) DPSI (Diploma in Public Services Interpreting). Also, I have been an English speaking professional Touris Guide in Turkey since 1997 ackowledged by the Ministry of Culture & Tourism of the country. (Click here to see this translator's profile)

My qualifications are of an academic nature. I have a University degree in English Language and Literature from Madrid University and a University degree also from Queen\'s University (Belfast - United Kingdom) in English Language and Literature. I have been a member of the teaching profession in the UK for over 25 years and during that time became Head of the Spanish and of the Modern Languages Department in a local Catholic Grammar School. Last year I retired from the teaching profession and since then I have been putting my native language, my qualifications and linguistic experience to translation work. I have been translating a website and a monthly news paper for the English speaking community of a town called Álora in the province of Málaga (Spain) from Spanish into English. This type of translation work has given me experience in many different topics: aromatherapy, religious and literary articles, history, community interest reports such as transport, town planning or art exhibitions, party political manifests and so many more. I teach Spanish at Queen\'s University of Belfast and they often use my services as interpreter. I have worked, in that capacity, for the Belfast City Hall several times and for the Michelin Tyre Company. (Click here to see this translator's profile)

I have worked as a French examiner at all levels for the last 28 years: • 1980/2003: yearly involvement in all aspects of public examinations in French for the YREB (Yorkshire Regional Examination Board), the JMB ( Joint Matriculation Board), and finally AQA (Assessment and Qualifications Alliance), including oral examining at O’ and A’ Levels, serving as Assistant Chief Examiner for A’Level French (JMB) for 3 years, professional RECORDINGS for various listening examinations, drafting of examination papers, moderating coursework etc. • 2007/08: examiner for the International Baccalaureate Organisation (Diploma level) • 2007: registered as a French examiner by the Institute of Linguists (UK) . 2008: A\'Level French examiner for AQA (Assessment & Qualifications Alliance) Finally, what makes me a good translator? Throughout my long teaching career, particularly as a high-profile Head of a Modern Languages Department, I have been fanatical about grammatical and spelling accuracy. I am an avid reader (1 book a week on average, alternating between French and English) of contemporary fiction, autobiographies, political memoirs and history and keep up with French current affairs both on the net and by listening to French radio. This, combined with my frequent visits to my home country, has made me become very aware of linguistic trends and gives me the edge when it comes to choosing the appropriate register/terminology when translating a text. I ALWAYS meet deadlines, in fact usually complete all projects with ample time to spare. All I ask of potential clients is to be given the chance to do a test piece, those who do so usually pick me!
