The following are examples of job postings looking for work from home translator:
English (American) to Spanish
This is a second posting. Please read this carefully. I am seeking a translator for a six month project to begin June 4th. The pay if $400 a week which will be direct deposited into your bank every Friday. You will receive a bonus of $1,000 after the first three months into the contract and a bonus of $1,000 at completion of the contract. The work load will be twenty hours a week and usually much less. You will work from home and any phone calls you make to me for clarifications about translations will be reimbursed. The reason for the payrange is that I am looking for a truly exceptional candidate who can be a partner in this work. Since much of this work will be on a national advertising campaign, accuracy is extremely important. Being bicultural is also critical. I want someone who understands the nuances in language and culture for different countries as well as the United States which is why that I am asking for a native Spanish speaker who currently lives in the U.S My first posting received many responses and I provided candidates with a several sample paragraphs to translate. There were issues of disagreement over the way things should be translated which is understandable. However, spelling, grammar or punctuation mistakes were common in the responses. When those mistakes were pointed out to candidates, some of their responses were as follows: (these are real answers) "I wasn\'t at the desk that had the software to do the Spanish accents" "I am not as accurate with a sample as I would be on a job" "The English wasn\'t grammatically incorrect so it made me make mistakes in the Spanish" I am looking for someone that can translate a few sample paragraphs without any simple mistakes in spelling, punctuation and grammar. If a mistake is made (we are all human) then no excuses or blaming others for mistakes. I am looking for someone who goes out of their way to ask questions during translation to make sure that they understand the message trying to be conveyed. Someone who does not translate the meaning literally but translate the concept in a way that is culturally appropriate and has impact. I want someone with years of experience who understands marketing and why messages must be culturally appropriate. This position requires someone who will give their feedback and explain why certain things cannot be translated or why the meaning would be lost in translation. I will be partnering with a company to provide them with marketing messages and you will be translating those messages along with other standardized forms. If you feel that you are the right person for this job, write and tell me about your background and qualifications. Then attached please find a document with a sample for translation, please submit it along with your resume and coverletter to me THANKS!! The program is age-appropriate for preschool through 5th grade students and is ready-to-go with a lesson manual and all the materials you need to teach throughout the year, eliminating hours of prep work. All the content is organized around thematic units which include the basic beginner themes (animals, food, home, verbs, body, clothes, places and opposites, in addition to primary topics such as shapes, colors, numbers, alphabet, etc.). The way it works is like this: For each theme you have a set of color-coded flashcards that introduce the core vocabulary through interactive games that develop comprehension and speaking skills, a multicultural music video which reinforces the vocabulary and pronunciation, an activity book for reading and writing exercises, art projects, games such as Ay Caramba or Yeehaw Bingo, Memory and Go Fish and kinesthetic activities that teach through movement. This approach addresses the diverse learning modalities of your class around every unit, and makes learning fun and engaging for all students. In addition, the Sube curriculum provides an academically sound curriculum that develops reading and writing, as well as comprehension and speaking skills. The user-friendly manual provides four sample multisensory lessons for each unit (eight units total) that are used as a model to create additional weekly or daily lessons. A new curriculum map helps customize the lessons to meet your specific needs. The Activity section includes over 200 activities that incorporate research-based teaching strategies designed to address the unique needs of the second language learner. Sube is aligned with the TESOL standards and includes an evaluation chart and tests to track student progress and to assure successful implementation in the classroom. Each kit includes free online and phone support to help you as you learn the exciting new Sube system for teaching Spanish or English to children through art, music and games.
