The following are examples of job postings looking for translation job posting:
English (American) to Korean
We are currently seeking a quote and information about capabilities to translate from English into Spanish, Korean, Chinese and Vietnamese. We will need translation of both documents and telephonic meetings. The translation could be in person (preferred method) or via teleconference. We are required to pitch to a client in the morning which vendor we plan on using for this project. The hours will vary. At this time if you could provide us with a quote ASAP that would be much appreciated as we need to compile and compare the information with other agencies. Additionally, we are a healthcare company working on a customer service project with our client. In which case would prefer someone with experience in either of those areas, but that\'s simply preference and not a requirement. Thank you! Translators please send your quotes, this is not a full time position but it is not a one time thing, make sure to specify your language pairing when responding to this posting.
English (American) to Spanish
This is a second posting. Please read this carefully. I am seeking a translator for a six month project to begin June 4th. The pay if $400 a week which will be direct deposited into your bank every Friday. You will receive a bonus of $1,000 after the first three months into the contract and a bonus of $1,000 at completion of the contract. The work load will be twenty hours a week and usually much less. You will work from home and any phone calls you make to me for clarifications about translations will be reimbursed. The reason for the payrange is that I am looking for a truly exceptional candidate who can be a partner in this work. Since much of this work will be on a national advertising campaign, accuracy is extremely important. Being bicultural is also critical. I want someone who understands the nuances in language and culture for different countries as well as the United States which is why that I am asking for a native Spanish speaker who currently lives in the U.S My first posting received many responses and I provided candidates with a several sample paragraphs to translate. There were issues of disagreement over the way things should be translated which is understandable. However, spelling, grammar or punctuation mistakes were common in the responses. When those mistakes were pointed out to candidates, some of their responses were as follows: (these are real answers) "I wasn\'t at the desk that had the software to do the Spanish accents" "I am not as accurate with a sample as I would be on a job" "The English wasn\'t grammatically incorrect so it made me make mistakes in the Spanish" I am looking for someone that can translate a few sample paragraphs without any simple mistakes in spelling, punctuation and grammar. If a mistake is made (we are all human) then no excuses or blaming others for mistakes. I am looking for someone who goes out of their way to ask questions during translation to make sure that they understand the message trying to be conveyed. Someone who does not translate the meaning literally but translate the concept in a way that is culturally appropriate and has impact. I want someone with years of experience who understands marketing and why messages must be culturally appropriate. This position requires someone who will give their feedback and explain why certain things cannot be translated or why the meaning would be lost in translation. I will be partnering with a company to provide them with marketing messages and you will be translating those messages along with other standardized forms. If you feel that you are the right person for this job, write and tell me about your background and qualifications. Then attached please find a document with a sample for translation, please submit it along with your resume and coverletter to me THANKS!!
English (American) to Korean
The task consists of translating math related text from English to Korean. Here is a little background: My company produces an educational algebra software. One of its unique features is that it generates dynamic explanations, so there isn\'t a simple static set of strings to be translated. The software is designed with QT C++ compiler which fortunately provides decent tools for text extraction - so that part has already been done. I am posting a sample format of “input” text to be translated here: http://www.softmath.com/algebrator.xml Upon further interest I will provide you with the entire xml file to be translated This file has been designed to work with QT Linguist, so it would be good if you are experienced with it; however simply inserting translation between [translation] tags will work too. Please note some unique challenges in translating the following sample text: [p]In order to complete the [a href = "#SQUARE"]square[/a] in %1, we first[/p][p]need to explicitly group all the %2 [a href = "#TERM"]terms[/a].[/p][p]The rest of the terms remain ungrouped.[/p] 1. The html formatting tags cannot be stripped to make sentences \'cleaner\' for the translator (only translating between tags would not work because of loss of context, and if we strip the tags, obviously we wouldn\'t know where to put them back in after the translation. So, the successful bidder needs to be somewhat proficient in html. 2. Notice %1 and %2 -- these are \'variables\' that are inserted into the text when the program is running. Often, translation context will depend on these, which means that the translator will have to communicate with my programming team quite a bit to get this right. 3. In addition, the successful bidder has to be very familiar with correct math terminology that is used in high school / college level (in both English and Korean setting). This part is really important (i.e. I would give a strong preference to someone who has actually taught in a Korean school system) English to Korean translators please reply if interested and meet the requirements.
