English (American) to French Canadian
This project requires that the contractor generate French subtitles for approximately 12.5 hours of training video. There are approximately 184 video clips. Individual clips may vary from 1min to 25 min in length. However, the overall average clip length is 4 min of runtime. There are also approximately 15 pages of phrases that must be translated in order to change onscreen labels from English to French. The subtitles already exist in both English and Spanish, but will have to be simplified and reworded in the translation. The translator will have access to three important resources: 1. Prepared worksheets with English and Spanish versions of the subtitles – just fill in the table with a French version. 2. The training videos are viewable online in both English and Spanish 3. Machine-readable text and picture training manuals are available in French – they are currently being used in the target locations. These manuals are a bit older than the video materials, so they are probably only about 90% in accordance. Nonetheless, the contractor should be able to find virtually all of the required technical terms and many of the required subtitle phrasings by cutting and pasting from the existing manuals. English to French translators please quote.

The program is age-appropriate for preschool through 5th grade students and is ready-to-go with a lesson manual and all the materials you need to teach throughout the year, eliminating hours of prep work. All the content is organized around thematic units which include the basic beginner themes (animals, food, home, verbs, body, clothes, places and opposites, in addition to primary topics such as shapes, colors, numbers, alphabet, etc.). The way it works is like this: For each theme you have a set of color-coded flashcards that introduce the core vocabulary through interactive games that develop comprehension and speaking skills, a multicultural music video which reinforces the vocabulary and pronunciation, an activity book for reading and writing exercises, art projects, games such as Ay Caramba or Yeehaw Bingo, Memory and Go Fish and kinesthetic activities that teach through movement. This approach addresses the diverse learning modalities of your class around every unit, and makes learning fun and engaging for all students. In addition, the Sube curriculum provides an academically sound curriculum that develops reading and writing, as well as comprehension and speaking skills. The user-friendly manual provides four sample multisensory lessons for each unit (eight units total) that are used as a model to create additional weekly or daily lessons. A new curriculum map helps customize the lessons to meet your specific needs. The Activity section includes over 200 activities that incorporate research-based teaching strategies designed to address the unique needs of the second language learner. Sube is aligned with the TESOL standards and includes an evaluation chart and tests to track student progress and to assure successful implementation in the classroom. Each kit includes free online and phone support to help you as you learn the exciting new Sube system for teaching Spanish or English to children through art, music and games.
