This is an information document for Migrant workers living and working in West Norfolk. The information is non technical and on stautory and voluntary services within West Norfolk. It is 50 pages (A4) mainly text. We have funding from The Legal Services Commission, and the deadlines for meeting the funding criteria is tight. The whole project has to be completed by 31 March 2005. In order to reach the target users, we will need translations in Russian, Mandarin Chinese and Portuguese. For ease of updating the services information and printing, the text will be in text boxes (see attachment). I am also looking at getting a sample translation to consult user groups for ease of reading and content. Is this possible? The funding has allocated £2400 for the whole translation. The complete set of documents in the attached zip file must ALL be translated into each of the necessary languages, which are: French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, German, & UK English This is a very technical document, and the translation must be done very carefully. The translations are for a software program, and thus the translations need to be specifically for business use in the Corporate Travel Management Industry. These documents are designed so that the text can be copied right into the parser and the translations will take place automatically. You will notice that each phrase to be translated starts with a group of words that are joined by periods (i.e., locale.english.us ) followed by an = AND THEN the phrase to be translated is on the right of the = sign. The words to the LEFT of the equal sign that are joined by periods must be left in English as they are. Further, in doing the translations, you will note there are some special characters, such as \n (which denotes a line space), which MUST BE LEFT ALONE. Please do not modify the files, or delete the spaces, or some other special tags. Once the translation is done, the files should be renamed as follows: Once the specific file is ready save it as name_xx_XX.properties Name –the initial name of the file xx – language abbreviation (lowercase) XX - country abbreviation (uppercase) For example for a file named “Admin_en_US.properties” the translation in French needs to be “Admin_fr_FR.properties”

I am collecting research for a book(s) I plan to write on the Soviet Japanese wars between 1939 and 1945. I have 2,000 pages from Russian language books, requiring translation into English. The page count might be reduced to 1500, if you translate only those portions of the books that cover the military operations I am researching. I would estimate the words per page, on average equal 500 words or 2500 letters per page. A working knowledge of Russian military terminology and geographic terms for Siberia, Manchuria, Sakhalin, the Kuriles and Korea are required. The project can be completed in a single assignment, or in increments, since each book I want translated averages 100-200 pages. I would like to limit turn around time to no more than two months for each of these books, and perhaps 4 months for the entire project, if done as a whole. All the documents are either books or otherwise unobtainable Xerox copies of hardbound original books. If you use scanners and OCR equipment for computer assisted translations, you might have difficulty: The copy and ink quality of the originals, much less the copies are legible for humans but might not be easily scanned and converted into OCR by a computer. All the documents have been written since World War 2, most during the 1970\'s and 80\'s. The exact English syntax and phrasing you use in the translations need only generally approximate the Russian usage, so long as the information contained in that phrasing is fully and accurately transmitted, and the terminology accurately transliterated. Please provide approximate estimates to facilitate my engaging in price comparisons. I understand a final and more precise estimate might require submission of the actual documents.
