Dear Linguists, We have a potential client who has expressed interest in having a Japanese to English freelance translator work on-site on Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM at their offices in New York for a period of one to two years. The subject matter for translation involves accounting matters, corporate credit, etc. as confidentiality is of the utmost concern to this client. When asked what kind of annual volume they see, they estimated approximately 200,000 words per year, as well as the possibility of other job requirements (information yet to be announced). In the meantime, we wanted to send out feelers to see if this is even something you would be interested in, If you are interested and available, it would be especially useful to have some idea of the rate that you would charge for such work as well as your resume or CV. Given the fact that this is a long-term assignment and the client will be selective with candidates, we will have to coordinate a "test" translation day during which we will have to send a candidate to the client's offices for a day on the job.
